Mt Hutt offers some of the best skiing, heli-skiing and snowboarding in the Southern Hemisphere, for beginners right through to the most advanced. Snow making equipment ensures a long and reliable season from June to October. Mt Hutt is the closest skifield to Christchurch, only 30 minutes from Methven, and 90 minutes from Christchurch City.
This ideal location promises lots of snow and fabulous skiing and snowboarding. The ski runs at Hanmer Ski Area are brilliant for all stages of skiers, but especially anyone of intermediate grade who'll literally discover a mountain of fun.
With a top elevation of 2000 metres, Porter Heights is endowed with regular natural snow providing some of the best snow conditions for skiers and boarders. Being just 89 kilometres from Christchurch airport and approximately a one hour drive from the Garden City, Porter Heights is the closest ski area to Christchurch.
