The Heaphy Track is a four to six day hike (82km). The Heaphy track is classified as a walking track, being well formed and with bridges on rivers and major streams. The Heaphy track is located in the Kahurangi National Park at the north-west corner of the South Island.
The Abel Tasman National Park is located at the top of the South Island in the Nelson region. The Abel Tasman Nation Park is about 2 hours (85km) drive from Nelson city. The Abel TasmanCoastal Walkway is New Zealand's premier coastal hiking track. Sea kayaking is a popular alternative to hiking the Abel Tasman. With a kayak you are able to access beaches that the coast track bypasses.
