The Lake Taupo region offers an impressive range of dining experiences, from the sophisticated
restaurants of major hotels and motor inns to highly individualistic eateries in memorable
places. There is even a geothermal prawn farm with a restaurant attached.
For a quick bite, there are many cafes ready to tempt visitors with excellent espresso
and home made specialties. For a more serious kind of meal, visitors are spoilt for choice.
Most restaurants and bars are located in the Taupo central business district, but Turangi
also has a good selection. If visitors catch a trout, they can confidently ask one of
the local restaurants to prepare and cook it.
