The West Coast's most famous culinary event is the Wild Foods Festival in March. A celebration
of the coast's unique lifestyle, food and hospitality, the event is described as 'an extravaganza
of gourmet bush tucker (slang word for 'food')'. Another prime time for foodies to visit
is spring, when the Coast's greatest delicacy, whitebait (a tiny type of fish), is scooped
out of local rivers.
People who miss these events needn't be disappointed, because excellent dining opportunities
exist all the year round.
To complement these memorable dining opportunities, the West Coast has a strong brewing
tradition dating back to the Gold Rush days. Monteiths and Miners breweries have evolved
into boutique brew houses that produce an excellent range of beers. Both companies offer
tours and sampling opportunities at their respective premises.
